Disorders Associated with Anxiety is broken down into three different anxiety disorders:
Social Anxiety Disorder
The anxiety experienced by individuals with social anxiety disorder occurs in social situations such as events where the person has to speak or perform in front of a large group. The anxiety of the person is compounded by the fear that others can see and disapprove of their distress.
Panic Disorder
For a person with panic disorder, anxiety occurs as a sudden surge of fear, sometimes the fear of doom. This psychological experience is usually accompanied by a host of physical sensations, such as a pounding heartbeat and shortness of breath. Individuals with panic disorder often present themselves to the emergency room of a hospital, fearing that they are having a heart attack.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
The anxiety experienced by individuals with GAD differs from the anxiety that is experienced by all people because it is unwanted, uncontrollable and pervasive. This type of anxiety is also experienced in a wide variety of situations in a person’s life.
